Miss Combs First Grade Class

Welcome to our classroom page!  This page is to keep you up to date on the events, activities, and successes of our year.  I will put the snack calendar, important events, pictures, and other helpful information on this website.  I am so excited to start the 2015-2016 school year in 1st grade!

*School hours are 8:50-3:51 this year.  The doors open at 8:30 for students who are eating breakfast.  Breakfast and lunch are provided to all Lincoln students for FREE.  If your student is not eating breakfast at school, they can enter the classroom at 8:50.

A little more about me:

This will be my 8th year teaching at Lincoln Elementary School.  I was born and raised in South Haven.  My parents were both teachers in this district and I grew up in these schools.  My mom actually taught here at Lincoln while I was in school.  I graduated from South Haven High School in 2003 and attended Western Michigan University.... Go Broncos!  In 2007, I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and an emphasis on Early Childhood Education. I subbed for a few months and then applied for teaching positions all over the country.  I was very fortunate to get hired in South Haven right away!  In 2011, I decided to get my Masters Degree and took classes through Walden University.  I now have a Masters in Elementary Education-Literacy and Mathematics.

I live in South Haven and love being so close to all of the activities of our town.  I have a Goldendoodle dog named Abe who is 3 years old.  My parents and sister also live in South Haven and I am blessed to have a few godchildren in the area as well. During the summer, I work downtown at Props and love watching the town get busy.  In my spare time I enjoy gardening, reading a good book, playing the piano, taking my dog for walks, going to the movie theater, and hanging out with my friends.  I also coach Girls on the Run in the spring here in South Haven.

I love technology and try to incorporate it into many areas of the day.  I am so excited to experience first grade this year and can't wait to see how much students grow.  I look forward to another wonderful year at Lincoln.
